Moon Time!

My friend just shared with me a great website/forum where womyn can find support, inspiration, and resources about our menstrual cycles! Here is the site!

http://redmoon13.ning.com/

You can also find ways to create more ritual around your cycle, such as the act of going into the "red tent" without actually going into a tent.

This is really inspiring for me because I feel that there has been lost knowledge and/or misinterpreted ideals and taboos that surround our moon times. Its really sad, not only are men completely disconnected from it, but the womyn themselves who bleed do as well. As usual, mainstream culture only seems to perpetuate a negative feeling about "that time of the month" instead of empowering or educating womyn on whats really happening to a womyn when she is bleeding ( physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually).

For example, bleeding and the new moon represent a time of darkness and no-thingness when we have the ability to go deeper into the self, and really listen. Its a time when we are able have visions for what it is that we really want to create for ourselves and our planet. A time to shed out with the old, and create space for something new. We really are given an opportunity to "slow down" for a reason! And we should take advantage of it!!

When we are connected to our bodily rhythms and the cycles with nature, we realize that we really are just ONE cycle. With the demands of life and our concrete environment,  sometimes its not as easy to stay connected. But there are tools and rituals you can create to keep the sacred alive in all things.

That is why I am happy to have found this forum!
It's inspiring, supportive of who and where I am going on this path as a womyn, and I feel that I am not alone. That there are other warrioress's that are also sharing and holding space for other womyn to find the womb-moon within. We cannot rely on others to do the work, if we want to see change, we womyn have to do the work!!

The next Full Moon Gathering in January 2012

Greetings Sisters!

For the next full moon "walk", I have set my intentions to create a womens gathering to celebrate and share the joys of being a women!!!

Really, I wanted to do this in December, but with all the holy-daze craze, I realized it would be less stressful for myself and everyone else, if we did this in January.
So, Here it is!!!

*The evening will start with "The Moon Inside You" a documentary, about a taboo that defines the political and so...cial reality in both women and men in a very profound way, and to demystify some of those taboos that we "believe" to be true. It also aims to deconstruct the menstruation phenomenon, and offers not just to women but to men as well, the ability to achieve a greater understanding about a neglected but very important human experience, our period!

www.mooninsideyou.com

*Following the movie we'll open up the circle for any discussions or questions regarding the movie and our moon cycles led by Rose Ghavami ( We will be joining forces this evening with the Age of Aquarius Women's Group that Rose puts together in LA.

www.sacredroseyoga.com

*This is going to be a potluck so please bring something to share with the circle and to keep our energy flowing!

*We'll end the evening with some fun with Cucci!!!
Sex-Positive and Body-Positive Education and Fun, and an opportunity to purchase your next new sex toy!!!!

For more info on Cucci check out:
www.ilovecucci.com

I am really looking forward to this event, especially because I love co-creating with ma' ladies! And also to share this experience with all the other beautiful and inspiring women in my life! I'm really  excited to host this event, and to hold the space for one another as we journey, process,  and discover deeper into what it really means to be a women.

Thank You
I hope to see you all there!

Life

Wow! What a productive day!

I actually had the day off, which is really nice because it is not that common for me these days.

The summer and its warmth drew me outdoors, running about and creating more with community and friends. But now with the new fall season, I find myself wanting to stay warm and create internally, and indoors. With all the shifts and changes going on, the need to really stay grounded is more apparent. And in that place of center, when I am able to hold a solid and stable space for myself and others I feel at my optimal.

To be honest, I was feeling quite tired and fatigued the past couple months, and realized that I've depleted my Ojas ( relates to our immune system and state of overall health and vitatliy according to Yoga and Ayurveda) To replenish weak Ojas, one must REST!!! And one must receive full 8 hours of sleep, maybe even more if the body is yearning for it.

And thats exactly what I did!

I feel myself re-nourished ! I am able to give more to my friends, family, and community. I realize that when we give from an empty cup, we deplete ourselves even more.
Ayurveda states that we must be like a cup that is overflowing with the elixer of life so that we have enough to share with others, and enough to give to ourselves.

So with all this time, and energy today, I made a medicated reproductive ghee ( clarified butter). First I cooked 4 herbs, quadrupling the ingredients( 4 parts Shatavari, 2 parts Donq Quai, 2 parts Ashwagandha, and 1 part Cardomom) with 64 oz of water. I cooked it using a crock pot for about 9 hours, and then once i reduced the water by 3/4th, I added about 16 oz of ghee! Weeeeeeee! Now its still decocting the herbs out of the water, so ill probably let it cook for another couple hours.

*The intention behind this formula is to tonify the reproductive organs. Its heaviness of the oil is great for alleviating vata dosa and the sweet herbs are tonifying and building for the reproductive tissues!

I then made some herbal bath soaks made out of epsom salt and ginger root powder.
This blend is great for aches and pains, to reduce inflammation, and for any congestion or stagnation in the blood. Ginger is Amazing!!!!

I actually made these for an event coming up Dec 10th. where Ill be selling my re-usable moon pads, flax and herbal eye pillows ( very yummy) and herbal bath soaks. I will also be there doing my henna tattoo designs!

Moon Basking Sadhana

Hello Beauties!!!

Have you seen the moon lately? Its a beautiful, silver, waxing, crescent moon. Silver represents clarity, brilliance, and purity. And the waxing moon symbolizes manifestations and growth. Use this time now to see what it is you'd like to manifest for the following  weeks, and prioritize what you need to do to bring that into fruitation!

In light of the Full Moon we will take our monthly Full Moon Hike this time to Griffith Park. Theres a nice hike there that wraps around the mountains for about 45 minutes all together, and overlooks Los Angeles at the very top. Its an easy-moderate hike so don't stress there aren't any grand hills. Just one at the end, and if you don't feel like climbing it, no big deal. You can still see the Concrete Jungle and the brilliant lights from the city from there! Its beautiful! It used to be where I hiked once a week with my sister Kathie and dog Bodhi. I haven't been up there for months, and thought, this is the spot for the next hike. I've been meaning to get out to LA and get some of my LA friends out to join me on the Full Moon Sadhanas, so this will be a perfect combo!

Its happening Oct 10th, 730 pm at Griffith Park, Los Angeles.

If you are interested in carpooling from Long Beach, we will leave from Bluff Park ( Ocean and Junipero) between 600-630. Those of us meeting in LA, we can meet in front of the Greek Amphitheater at 730pm. From there we can drive to the spot that we will hike.

If you are interested please contact me or just meet there!
If you haven't joined us yet on these gathering they are absolutely gorgeous and deeply profound on all levels!
I hold them once a month, on or near the full moon, in a different location each month preferably near water. And we usually arrive at a destination, and hold a short meditation. Sometimes taking silence for the hike, sometimes not. Each time is very different, a unique, special and magical experience! If you can make it, please join us!!!!

*Wear warm clothe, and good walking/hiking shoes.
*Woman only
*No fee required
